Admissions Process
Our admissions process is straightforward and supportive, guiding families from the first enquiry to the first day at Polam.

Apply for a place at our exceptional school and put your child on the path to a fantastic educational experience. We have designed our admissions process to be as easy as possible and we will happily guide you every step of the way.
Visit us
The best way to experience Polam is to join us at one of our Open Days. These events give families the opportunity to see the school in action, meet our team, and get a real sense of daily life at Polam.

If you’re unable to attend an Open Day, we’re very happy to arrange a personal tour at a time that works for you. Tours are led by our Admissions Manager, Ron, and where possible the Headteacher will also stop by to say hello and answer any questions.
For families who can’t visit in person, we can offer a one-to-one video call or telephone conversation as an introduction to the school.Register
If you would like to continue with admission to Polam we will send you our registration form. Complete this and pay the application fee to register your interest in a place and proceed to the next step. Please note: Registration is an indication of interest and is not a guarantee of a place. Places at Polam School are limited and applications are processed in the order they are received.
Taster
Book and attend a Taster Session. Your child will spend time in class with their teacher and potential future classmates.
Offer
We will call with an informal offer of a place followed by the official email. There will be documentation to read, forms to complete, and deposit* to pay.
*A deposit of 1 term of fees may apply to international admissions.Welcome
An email will be sent out to arrange ‘Settling In’ (Nursery/Preschool) and provide you with useful information.
Settling-In Sessions (Nursery & Preschool)
Shortly before your child joins Nursery or Preschool, we will contact you to arrange a series of settling-in sessions. The first session usually lasts 60–120 minutes, depending on your child’s age, with following sessions increasing in length. This gives your child time to meet the team, become familiar with the environment, and begin forming relationships with the adults and children in their class.
Settling-in sessions are carefully planned to support children in building confidence and independence. In most cases, parents do not stay during these sessions, as we find children often settle more quickly when they are supported directly by familiar staff in their new setting.
Please note that settling-in arrangements may be adjusted in discussion with the Nursery team, depending on how your child is settling. In some cases, we may offer additional short sessions or extend the settling-in period to ensure each child feels secure and ready. For the first two sessions, parents are asked to remain close by and available, and we recommend avoiding work commitments unless you are able to leave immediately if needed.
