Polam offers a caring, confident start for children aged 1 to 7. Set in the heart of Bedford across two large Victorian era houses joined in the middle, we are a small, nurturing school where every child is known, supported, and encouraged to grow with curiosity, kindness, and confidence from their very first days.

Children enjoy a wide range of sports, clubs, and physical activities supported by a specialist PE teacher. Regular movement builds confidence, teamwork, and resilience, supporting both wellbeing and learning.
Swimming
Swimming is part of weekly school life at Polam. Small group lessons in our own indoor pool help children build confidence, independence, and strong water skills throughout the year.
Language and Arts
Children explore language, art, and performing arts through creative, engaging experiences. Music, movement, drama, and visual art help develop communication, confidence, and self-expression, supporting both creativity and wellbeing alongside learning.
Wellbeing & RISE
Wellbeing underpins everything we do. Through our RISE programme, Wellbeing Champion, and Mental Health First Aider, children develop emotional awareness, resilience, and strategies to support positive mental health

We are incredibly proud to have successfully achieved the highest possible accreditation of ‘Double Excellent’ by the ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate). This thorough inspection covers both the students’ academic and other achievements, as well as their personal development.
