Registering for a place at Polam
Thank you for your interest in our school. As a result of the current coronavirus crisis, we have made some slight changes to the way we work, to protect the safety of our school community whilst still providing new parents with the opportunity to plan for their child’s educational future or nursery provision. Request a Prospectus
Contact our Admissions Manager, Sam Pearce, for an initial conversation about your child and to check availability in the relevant year group by calling 01234 261864 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, please complete our enquiry form to request a prospectus.
Arrange to visit Polam for a personal tour to discuss all aspects of school life and experience the atmosphere. Currently tours can only be conducted after school hours from 4pm. Wherever possible school tours will be conducted by our Headteacher, and nursery parents will be shown round by our Nursery Manager.
If for any reason you are unable to visit us in person at the time available, we can offer a 1:1 video call with our Headteacher as an introduction to our school.
Complete a registration form and pay a non-returnable £75 registration fee. Registration is an indication of interest and is not a guarantee of a place. Places at Polam School are much sought after, particularly in the Nursery where we have limited places available. We therefore recommend that you complete the Registration form and return it along with a non-refundable registration fee (£75) as soon as possible.
Once we have received your Registration form, we will send out an offer of a place (subject to availability).
Entry is confirmed when the acceptance documentation is returned with the deposit, which is refundable when your child leaves, providing all fees and other bills have been cleared. In the case of children joining the Nursery, the School reserves the right to retain half of this deposit if the child does not go through to the School and complete at least the Reception year.
If a child is withdrawn after the deposit has been paid, the first term’s fees will be charged in lieu of notice. Further information may be found within our Terms and Conditions, which is available from the Admissions Manager upon request.
Taster Sessions & Settling In
Shortly before your child joins the School, we will contact you to arrange a settling-in session where your child can come in for 60-90 minutes (depending on the age of the child), to meet their new teacher and their classmates. This is to help them become familiar with their new surroundings. Parents of very young children are more than welcome to stay for the duration of the first taster session, although we do often find that children will integrate more easily if they don’t have parents with them.
